About Us
Leadrive Technology, founded in 2017, is a technology-driven electric control solution provider focusing on the new energy vehicle sector. Headquartered in Pudong, Shanghai, leadrive has established subsidiaries in Liuzhou (Guangxi), Pinghu (Zhejiang), Wuhu (Anhui), Chongqing, Lingang (Shanghai), Hangzhou (Zhejiang), Aachen (Germany) and Tokyo (Japan), with a dedicated business presence in Hong Kong. To date, Leadrive has been recognized with honors including the National Little Giant Enterprise, China IC Unicorn Enterprise, and Shanghai Science and Technology Little Giant Enterprise.
As of the end of 2025, Leadrive employs over 1,000 full-time staff, among whom more than 400 are R&D engineers. Over 50% of the R&D team hold doctoral or master's degrees, over 30% have overseas study or work experience, and nearly all R&D personnel are proficient in German and/or English for professional communication. The team holds 285 granted patents domestically and internationally, including 124 invention patents, building deep expertise and accumulated knowledge in power electronics and automotive engineering.
Dr.-Ing Jie Shen, founder of Leadrive, graduated from RWTH Aachen University in Germany. He previously served as Technical Operations Director at GE Global Research in Germany and China, where he led technology development for multiple core strategic projects, gaining extensive experience in the industrialization of power electronics technologies. Dr.-Ing Shen holds 127 patents and has published 44 academic papers in the power electronics field. He is also an accredited Shanghai Leading Talent, Lingang Outstanding Talent, Pudong New Area Pearl Leading Talent, and Council Member of the China Power Supply Society.
Leadrive's unique technology roadmap — combining forward design of power modules with vertical integration of motor control systems — creates dual competitive advantages in both performance and cost. Leadrive mass-produced its first-generation motor controller in 2020, launched the industry's first PEBB (Power Electronics Building Block) in 2021, rolled out its second-generation dual-motor controller with a power density exceeding 43kVA/L in 2023, and released its third-generation dual-motor controller with a power density over 62kVA/L in 2024. To date, the application scope of its products has successfully expanded from new energy vehicles to cutting-edge sectors including electric aircraft, embodied intelligence and AIDC power supplies, fully validating the advancement and reliability of its core technologies.
Leveraging industry-leading capabilities in product innovation, industrialization implementation and supply chain integration, Leadrive's independently developed new energy vehicle motor controllers, PEBB and power modules have been adopted in dozens of vehicle models from major domestic and global automakers, with robust sales across China and overseas markets. As of the end of 2025, cumulative shipments of power modules reached 4 million units, while total cumulative shipments of motor controllers and PEBB exceeded 1 million units, supporting the green transition of the global new energy vehicle industry.
